Hosting Just Write has always been a joyful experience. For Firnita from Journal Kita, these gatherings bring a different kind of energy compared to writing alone. There’s a sense of togetherness when writers sit side by side, share their works, and exchange perspectives.

This session carried an intimate and warm atmosphere. Participants listened to three poems written in response to the current situation in the country. From there, the conversation unfolded—about what they’ve been feeling, their recent personal experiences, and small reflections that might not have surfaced without a space like this.

One participant described the session as “intimate – the right size for me.” Another highlighted how they managed to write within less than an hour and still produce something meaningful, adding, “the discussion was also enjoyable.”

Others appreciated the dedicated space to truly focus on writing: “The discussion after writing was also very engaging.”

More importantly, Just Write became a safe space to process emotions. “I felt like I was in a safe space—especially in today’s circumstances. It helps to process emotions and talk with others who are going through similar things,” shared another participant. For some, the conversation even sparked deeper reflections to carry forward.

As part of a bigger vision, Just Write is one of the umbrella initiatives of Journal Kita—a vessel for Indonesian writers to share their stories. Founded by Firnita and Haikal, Journal Kita has grown into a Medium publication with more than 85K followers. It curates works under four umbrella topics: Musings, Poetry, Fiction, and Just Write. Beyond being a regular theme on their platform, Just Write has also taken shape as an offline event since 2024, creating space for writers to meet and grow together.

To close the evening, Tinta Nusantara supported the event by giving small giveaways to five lucky participants. A gesture that aligns with their spirit of versatility, and a hope that gatherings like this will continue—so more people can write, share, and discover themselves through words.
